Hot Fix for Email Notifications

Scope:

The email server genesis4.controller@apergy.com has been permanently shut down, due to upgrades and obsolescence. As a result, in SMARTEN firmware version 4.3 and earlier, email notifications are no longer functioning until the next firmware version is released (coming soon in 2022).

For more assistance please contact your local ChampionX representative, or call 1-661-633-2792, or email at Smarten.Support@gotheta.com

Solution:

Engineering has released a “hot fix”, which is designed to modify the email notification parameters in SMARTEN to allow emails to be sent from a functioning server.

Note: this hot fix is only designed to work with SMARTEN firmware versions 4.0 and higher.

Materials Required:

  • Computer or Laptop (SMARTEN Wi-Fi or remotely from TCP network)
  • Download hot fix below

Steps for Mitigation:

The hot fix file is uploaded to SMARTEN in the same method in which firmware is uploaded.

Follow these steps to upload hot fix file:

  1. On SMARTEN screen click “Configuration” tab at the top of the screen.

  1. Click “System Setup” from the left side tab.

  1. Click “Select Firmware File…” button.

  1. Once button is selected an explorer (finder if using Mac OS) will open. Navigate to the directory in which the hot fix file is located.

Unless the file was moved to a new location since it was downloaded it will be located in your “Download” folder (C:\Users\user name\Downloads)

  1. Once file is selected, click the green “Upload” button on bottom right.

Upload and reboot process should take about 5-7 minutes. Once controller has rebooted the hot fix will take effect.

Note: If a firmware update is completed after the hot fix file has been loaded in the controller, the hot fix effects will not longer work. The hot fix file will need to be uploaded again.
